(From Hull Daily Mail)
Hull Ionians will be playing National League rugby next season after a dramatic play-off victory over Kettering.
Kettering could have won the game with the last kick of the match, but they could not convert to seal glory.
A try deep into injury-time gave Kettering the opportunity, but the conversion that would have won the match went wide - much to Ionians' relief.
While Ionians showed the greater creativity and flair, Kettering stuck to their task well, despite being behind from the fourth minute and Ionians could never quite shake them off.
Ultimately Ionians' outstanding defence, which has been the rock on which their season has been built, held firm enough to condemn Kettering to a play-off defeat for the second year running.
Ionians dominated the first-half, with Kettering not coming near to crossing the try line, while the reverse was true in the second period, as Ionians got bogged down in their own half and were unable to clear their lines.
