UNAFRAID, WE PACKED OUR BAGS AND ISSUED THE CHALLENGE: "STYLISH MEN EVERYWHERE, STAND UP AND BE COUNTED." AND YOU DID. TEN CITIES, THREE THOUSAND CONTESTANTS, AND FIVE FINALISTS LATER, * THE IDEA DOESN'T SEEM THAT CRAZY AFTER ALL.

Andrew Gutierrez, 28, school administrator, Hillcrest Christian School, Thousand Oaks, California

HOW HE WON:

Andrew showed up at our Los Angeles competition with his own laid-back take on California cool, which means he didn't try too hard. He did the high-low thing with a "random" pinstripe suit jacket, the origin of which he's long forgotten, a white collared shirt from Express, jeans from H&M, and leather shoes from Bass. Oh, and he wore a white leather belt.

WAIT. A WHITE BELT?

"I've always wanted a white belt," he explains. "I see a lot of guys wearing them these days. I can't explain it. But I thought it gave me a little something extra. And I wear it frequently. At least it didn't have studs on it." Fair enough.
