Sep. 8--Thai Union Frozen Products Plc's business in the United States is expected to escape unscathed the havoc wrought by Hurricane Katrina that ravaged the US Gulf Coast last week.
"Canned tuna is a staple food, one of the best and very cheapest protein sources. People tend to consume tuna and dine in more often after a devastating hurricane. That would be good for our business there," said Thiraphong Chansiri.
TUF has two subsidiaries in the United States -- Chicken of the Sea, the third largest tuna company in the US, and Empress International, a New York-based seafood importer and distributor.
