Sep. 6--The word from Seoul is that South Korean tourists won't be returning to Phuket and the Andaman resort areas any time soon, because the horror of the Dec 26 tsunami remains fresh in their minds.

The South Korean embassy in Bangkok has cautioned that even the most vigorous bids to woo Korean tourists, including expats living in Thailand, back to the tsunami-hit region have faltered, eight months after the disaster.

"Most Koreans who came to Phuket were honeymoon couples and they are not interested in Phuket anymore," said Ryoo Jung-Young, the embassy's cultural attache.
