PRAGUE, June 1 (CTK) - Evzen Snitily (senior government Social Democrats, CSSD) was elected the chairman of the Chamber of Deputies regional committee today.
His election, which is still to be confirmed by the Chamber of Deputies, is expected to be discussed at the June session.
In a secret ballot, Snitily's candidacy was supported by 14 out of 19 committee members present, while his opponent Tomas Kvapil (junior government Christian Democrats, KDU-CSL) received only a marginal support.
Snitily will replace Radko Martinek (CSSD) who became local development minister in April.
There are 14 committees in the Chamber of Deputies, a larger part of which - six - are headed by the CSSD.
The senior opposition Civic Democrats (ODS) head four committees and the junior opposition Communists (KSCM) and the junior government Freedom Union-DEU head one committee each.
