BRATISLAVA, June 1 (CTK) - The Slovak state budget posted a Sk3.86 billion deficit at end-May against a Sk6.39 billion surplus a month earlier, Finance Ministry spokesman Peter Papanek told CTK today.
In May 2004, the gap amounted to Sk2.27 billion.
Budget revenues in the first five months of the year dipped by 3.4 per cent year-on-year to Sk105.46 billion. In April, revenues were 7.6 per cent lower.
"Last year, revenues also included financial operations that will now take place outside the state budget," said Papanek, adding the same applied to expenditures.
Spending fell by 1.9 per cent on the year to Sk109.32 billion in May after an 8.8 per cent drop in April.
Tax revenues in May were 5.6 per cent lower at Sk92.73 billion. Corporate income tax revenues showed the fastest growth of 31.8 per cent to Sk21.65 billion.
