PRAGUE, June 1 (CTK) - The Czech Council for Research and Development has proposed seven main topics on which the scientific research in the Czech Republic should concentrate in the near future and recommended that the government financially support mainly these topics.

Under the proposal, which the cabinet is expected to discuss today, the state should mainly support research of sustainable development, molecular biology, power resources, materials, competitiveness of the engineering, information societies and security.

Council members marked these topics as the most important for the development of a competitive economy and the sustainable development of Czech society. A quarter of financial means designated for science should go to these areas, according to the council's report. Other means should be directed to finance other research tasks, grant projects, research necessary for the civil service, including research implemented by individual ministries.
