Training needs in health care system.

Health professionals in Pakistan generally suffer from the lack of periodical training and orientation programmes that is necessary to keep them abreast with latest advancements in the health management system and application of ever changing technology in diagnostic, preventive and curative services.

The federal and provincial heath establishments have training, research, monitoring and evaluation cells to provide support services and teaching and training facilities to the federal and provincial health outlets beginning from the grassroots level village-based health centers to teaching hospitals in the federal and provincial capitals.

A cursory study of the findings of the monitoring and evaluation cell of the federal health ministry shows that there have been occasional pointations about the paramedics' training and orientation programmes concentrated on primary health care services. These programmes were found deficient in addressing needs of the trainees as they lacked basic knowledge about their job descriptions and the trainers had ignored this factor by simply taking it for granted that the trainees were equipped with such knowledge that is necessary for comprehension of advanced information.
