After failing to generate any offense when he entered the game as a pinch-hitter, Atsushi Fujimoto delivered the game-winning run with a single in the top of the 10th inning as the Hanshin Tigers defeated the Yokohama BayStars 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.
The victory over the host BayStars at Sapporo Dome, combined with a loss by the Chunichi Dragons, increased the Tigers' Central League lead to three games. The Dragons will host Hanshin for two games starting on Tuesday at Nagoya Dome.
Tigers starter Naohisa Sugiyama allowed a run in seven innings. He got a lead in the top of the fourth on Shane Spencer's ninth homer. But the BayStars tied it in the fifth on a double by catcher Ryoji Aikawa
