Bangkok commuters on the skytrain and subway may soon be able to use their mobile phones to pay fares.

Payzy Thailand Co, the operator of the Mobile Payment Club, plans to to introduce a contact-less mobile payment service early next year that will allow payments to be made using handsets as debit cards, instead of prepaid cards. Users of the system must have a special "contact-less" chip embedded in their phones. The chip will store the value of money that can be used in the same way as cash.
