Sep. 2--Louisiana workers driven out by the hurricane this week are forcing Texas officials to quickly staff up to get unemployment checks out promptly.

The Texas Workforce Commission office near the Astrodome was jammed Thursday with many newly unemployed workers from Louisiana trying to sign up for jobless benefits and begin work searches.

Houston companies are also setting up phone lines and offering office space to their flooded colleagues in Louisiana so they can restart their businesses.
