l 1,200 oppose disc parking l 1,000 oppose homes plan. BARNOLDSWICK Chamber of Trade has responded to an elderly couple's grumbles about the loss of disc parking in the town centre.

While the organisation has sympathy with William and Margaret Mills' parking plight, as featured in last week's Barnoldswick and Earby Times, it points out that the car park in Wellhouse Road does not belong to the Co-op, it belongs to the town.

It was not aware of a significant number of complaints about "horrendous" parking experiences before the disc scheme was introduced in October, 2004.

And that it made representation to the West …
