A Northampton man chose to propose to his girlfriend by printing the big question on to a big banner.
Moulton resident Crawford Warnock draped a banner with the words "Will you marry me?" across the front of his house on Wednesday while his girlfriend had gone out.
When Nikki Hanwell returned, she discovered the banner and her boyfriend bearing roses.
Crawford, a 27-year-old marketing assistant, said: "It's a big thing getting married, so I wanted to make a pretty big statement.
"It's an extravagant gesture, but it beats proposing in a restaurant or doing it when you are drunk." "This is not an every day event so I thought I should make a big deal out of it." Nikki, of course surprised by the public proposal, was delighted.
