Leyton Orient 3 Cobblers 2 COLIN CALDERWOOD refused to criticise his Cobblers players after they slumped to a last-gasp defeat at Brisbane Road.
For the third time this season Town lost an away game 3-2 with the winning goal coming in injury-time.
And, as in the muggings at Sincil Bank and Nene Park, Town will have every right to feel they should have got at least a point from the proceedings.
Cobblers enjoyed lots of possession and plenty of chances at Orient, but went 2-0 behind before showing great resolve to draw level with 15 minutes left to play with goals from Andy Kirk and Ashley Westwood.
Sensing a victory, Town continued to attack but were hit by a sucker punch as Orient striker Lee Steele hit his second of the game, in stoppage time.
"A lot of it was bright," said Calderwood, who was in upbeat mood despite his side slipping out of the top seven.
