BARRY HUNTER was absolutely spot-on with his verdict after Rushden & Diamonds' 11th home defeat of a sorry season.

Yet again they paid the penalty - quite literally in this case - for missing so many chances in front of goal.

Diamonds failed to score for the tenth time at Nene Park in a terrible way to end the Griggs family era before the supporters' trust complete their takeover this summer.

Surely things can only get better next season both on and off the pitch.

Hunter already knows it's going to be a tough job to strengthen the squad so that there won't be a third successive relegation battle.

But losing to Conference-bound Cambridge United - who celebrated their only away league win in the last 12 months - simply shows all the hard work needed behind the scenes.
