(From Northampton Chronicle and Echo)
TWO pint-sized protesters are leading the fight against controversial plans to build a massive quarry in a quiet Northamptonshire village.
Adam Cox, 10, and his eight-year-old brother Simon joined dozens of protesters at a public inquiry to discuss the proposals to build the quarry in Welford.
The site is one of eight quarry plans being considered by Northamptonshire County Council and has attracted three times more objections than any of the others.
The brothers were joined by dad Chris Cox, of The Leys, Welford and other members of the protest group - Welford Against Quarrying - at Franklin's Gardens yesterday.
The site is about a mile north of the village close to the Leicestershire border. English Nature, Daventry District Council and British Waterways have all lodged formal protests.
Mr Cox said: "The level of support from the whole village and everyone living in the area has been amazing.
