TRAVELLERS have set up camp in a supermarket car park in Sixfields exactly two weeks after caravans were evicted from the same spot.

Nine caravans arrived in the car park of Sainsbury's in Weedon Road, Northampton, either on Wednesday night or yesterday morning.

It follows an angry altercation between travellers and supermarket staff when around a dozen caravans arrived in the car park on Thursday, March 16.

On that occasion, the travellers were served with eviction papers by the Countywide Traveller Unit (CTU), with police and private bailiffs attending, and they left the next morning.

A Sainsbury's spokeswoman said the supermarket was aware of the latest group of caravans and steps were being taken to move them on.

She said: "We have no idea why they have chosen to come back again after they were forced to leave such a short time ago.
