(From Northampton Chronicle and Echo)
Canons Ashby, a 16th century manor house near Daventry, has opened its doors to the public after being closed for the winter.
Already more than 2,000 people have visited the Elizabethan manor house, which was upgraded while it was shut.
A computer network and an extensive new security system, costing more than GBP100,000, was installed, replacing the old one, which was 20 years old.
Maintenance work worth GBP40,000 was carried out on stone windows and a Jan Van Nost statue, of a shepherd boy and his dog, was restored.
A major survey of the building has also just been carried out 20 years after the restoration of the property.
This year several events are taking place at the house.
