TOUGH Government targets could mean Northampton Primary Care Trust (PCT) is left with a one-star rating for the second year in a row.
The trust has failed to meet performance goals in two areas, which could leave it unable to progress to a two-star rating when the gradings are finalised later this year.
It has failed to reach drug treatment targets by one per cent and is not clear whether it will be penalised for this by the Department of Health.
The Government also set a new target for accident and emergency departments, expecting 98 per cent of patients to be seen within four hours.
But Northampton General Hospital has only achieved a 97.4 per cent performance, which has been passed onto the PCT.
The PCT trust is uncertain how many penalty points it will receive for the missed targets and is unable to predict whether it will receive a one or two star rating.
