THE newly-built village at Upton, which has won the support of Prince Charles for its traditional designs, is to feature an ultra-modern block of flats as its centrepiece.
The new village, close to Sixfields, has been designed with the help of Prince Charles's architects.
But designs released for the second phase of the village show a five-storey, square tower block which will sit in the middle of the more historic-looking buildings.
Ben Pentreath, from architects Working Group, said the flats had been purposefully designed to contrast with the rest of the village.
He said: "It's designed by quite a contemporary architect because we specifically wanted something to look quite different on that site.
