Phones boosting camera sales
Despite having cameras in their phones, U.S. shoppers are still snapping up digital cameras, research firm IDC said in its Mobile Imaging Survey. Analysts had expected camera phones to bite into digital camera sales, but 30% of camera-phone owners said the devices sparked their interest and spurred them to buy digital cameras. IDC estimates that camera phones will take 7.5 bil pictures this year, while digital cameras will snap 40 bil.
