Section: General News - Local shrimp producers have called on the government to relax a labour rule and allow them to hire non-registered alien workers or else the industry risks missing its export projection, the Bangkok Post reports.
A new Labour Ministry rule that requires all foreign workers to register annually for social and security reasons could have serious effects on the shrimp business, according to Poj Aramwattananont, president of the Thai Frozen Foods Association.
