As far as repurposing information goes, certainly the most visible aspect of the latest release of Bentley MicroStation V8 2004 Edition is the ability to generate the 3D U3D files supported by Adobe Acrobat Professional 7. You can embed U3D files in PDF files to incorporate 3D models and animations that recipients can view interactively using the latest version of the free Adobe Reader software. MicroStation V8 2004 Edition not only generates these U3D files, but also includes the PDF file capabilities implemented in previous iterations of MicroStation V8.
MicroStation users can create PDF files that contain DGN and DWG drawings, project documentation and engineering data as well as 3D design data. Simply press a button to generate PDF files in MicroStation V8 2004. All project information is collected and placed into a PDF file.
Generating both PDF and U3D 3D files is impressive by itself, but Bentley Systems doesn't stop there. The MicroStation PDF Composer is available as a free download to all users of MicroStation V8 2004 Edition. MicroStation PDF Composer is a Windows application for publishing PDF documents from plots and plot sets. PDF Composer can publish PDF documents from drawing sets in a single step.
