Global Signal agrees to deal for tower use.(BUSINESS)

SARASOTA -- Global Signal Inc. has entered into an agreement with USA Mobility allowing the wireless message provider to access the local company's communications towers.

Sarasota-based Global Signal said the fee that USA Mobility will pay will decrease in time.

The initial payment is $1.6 million for July and drops to as low as $1 million per month in 2008.

USA Mobility, based in Alexandria, Va., expects to move as many as half of its transmitters to the Global Signal sites by the end of 2008.

The master leases went into effect July 1 and are set to expire in December 2008.
