TRIBUTES have been paid to a Cheshire yachtswoman who died after collapsing in front of her family during a sailing competition.

Elizabeth Cook, 38, of Davenport Road, Hazel Grove, Stockport, was taking part in the Squirrel Trophy, off the coast of Harlech, North Wales, on Saturday, with her father Peter and brother Richard.

She became ill during the race and was airlifted unconscious to Bangor Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Her family said in a statement: "Lizzie was a wonderful daughter and sister who loved the outdoors and was never happier than when sailing or out in ...
