A photo-journalist arrested while covering an opposition demonstration in Colombo on suspicion that he was taking photographs for Tamil rebels is under interrogation by the police.

The National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) was last afternoon questioning the photo-journalist, identified as Yathurshan Premachandran, working for a newspaper published in Colombo.

The newspaper management has informed the police that the photo-journalist was working for their newspaper as a trainee for the past six months, but police said its investigations were continuing.
