OWINGS MILLS -- The executive chosen to lead Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Maryland has the right resume and skills to get the battered company back on its feet, say local health care and insurance leaders.

William L. Jews, 41, named Wednesday as Blue Cross's new president and chief executive officer, is a Maryland native who has spent most of his career as chief administrator of non-profit health care corporations.
