Parliament, 23 August: President Thabo Mbeki has appointed his deputy Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka as leader of government business in the National Assembly.

At the start of proceedings in the House on Tuesday [23 August], Speaker Baleka Mbete said Mlambo-Ngcuka would replace Safety and Security Minister Charles Nqakula in the position.
