S. KOREA'S DOOSAN HEAVY TO BID FOR U.S.-BASED WESTINGHOUSE.

SEOUL, Aug 22 Asia Pulse - South Korean power-generation equipment maker Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co. said Monday it will bid for Westinghouse Electric Co., a U.S.-based unit of British Nuclear Fuels Plc.

"Doosan Heavy has presented a letter of intent for the purchase of Westinghouse before it will take part in preliminary bidding in the middle of next month," a company official said.

The preferred bidder is to be chosen by the end of this year, he said.
