Aug. 21--Amy Pate wanted to come back home. Helen Danciu wanted to follow her husband. Courtney Hollenbeck wanted a job.

Those reasons -- and various others -- are why the three women have come to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools this year as teachers.

They were among several hundred first-year teachers who spent two days last week at Providence High School as part of the annual CMS orientation program.

They learned about CMS personnel policies; curriculum, including the Open Court reading program used in elementary schools; and a little about each other.
