The nation's only all-women's public college, Douglass College, may soon cease to exist if a plan to restructure Rutgers University NJ occurs as critics fear.
Rutgers is looking to merge four liberal arts colleges into a single unit with standard admission and graduation policies and with all courses and majors being open to women and men, said Barry Qualls, chair of the school's Task Force on Undergraduate Education. He called the current set-up a "Byzantine structure that students don't understand and the faculty doesn't understand."
