Starting Sept. 1, New Yorkers can obtain a free report once a year from each of the three companies that compile credit histories: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.
It's good to regularly review your credit report for several reasons. Perhaps the most pressing these days is that it's a way to detect whether your identity has been stolen. But it's also important to correct any errors on your report, which can improve your credit standing.
