Fire officers have warned people about wrongly-positioned smoke detectors following a fire at a house in St Budeaux.

Divisional Officer Alex Hanson said: "The smoke detector in this property was fitted vertically to a wall. Smoke detectors should never be fitted vertically, as this delays the activation of the unit.
