Sally Jewell won't be participating in any of her usual triathlon races this summer.

After having been diagnosed with a massive pulmonary embolism and being put on blood thinners, Jewell hasn't been biking out of fear of falling. Many people on blood thinners risk severe bleeding just from taking

the drug.. Doctors told Jewell that years of cardio-training in the three-disciplinary sport--swimming, biking and running--probably saved her life.
