SYDNEY, Aug 9 Asia Pulse - The earnings season is in full swing this week with multi-billion dollar profits expected from Telstra (ASX:TLS), News Corp (ASX:NWS) and the Commonwealth Bank (ASX:CBA), while financial markets will be following closely the latest comments from the Reserve Bank.

The Australian stock market closed higher last week as cashed up investors remained optimistic at the end of the first week of the earnings season.
