Lee County hails hospital expansion.

Aug. 7--OPELIKA -- When Jane Robertson was a little girl, her father, Elder Thomas Mobley, took her with him to Lee County Hospital, where he ministered to the sick from his congregation.

The time was the start of the 1960s, when a single-story medical facility was serving local patients. Today, Robertson directs nursing at what has become East Alabama Medical Center, which is undergoing a $60 million expansion and renovation.

In fact, the hospital complex has grown so much it now offers day care, with Robertson's 4-year-old son, Jimmy, one of the pupils. She said he is eyeing the construction closely.
