Accounting packages are still fairly new to Windows, and one of the first entries is Peachtree Software Inc.'s Peachtree Accounting 5.0 (previously Crystal Accounting). Aimed at small businesses, the $99 program promises ease of use and full accounting functionality, which it delivers for the most part.

I used the program to set up a professional society's books. Its needs were typical of a small business: multiple checking accounts, a coding system for expenses and income, billing, etc. Peachtree met all my needs. I can't think of any feature that's missing.
