Aug. 4--Business leaders and analysts were unfazed by the latest cabinet reshuffle, showing little surprise at the appointments and expecting few if any major policy or economic initiatives as a result.

The key economic portfolios of the second cabinet of the second Thaksin Shinawatra government were taken by long-time veterans of the Thai Rak Thai administration, with Somkid Jatusripitak and Thanong Bidaya swapping seats at the finance and commerce ministries.

Suriya Jungrungreangkit, the powerful secretary-general of the Thai Rak Thai party, left the Transport Ministry with the Suvarnabhumi Airport procurement scandal hanging over his head, but returned to the Industry Ministry in a post he held during a previous government.
