Aug. 3--Media executives say a call by supporters of former Bangkok governor Maj Gen Chamlong Srimuang for a ban on all alcoholic beverage advertising would hurt the industry, do little to prevent alcohol abuse or consumption and is, in a word, "ridiculous".
Supporters of the ascetic Maj Gen Chamlong made their demand for an advertising ban following protests against the plans to list Thai Beverage Co, the brewer of Chang beer, on the Stock Exchange of Thailand.
