JOEY CHAN and Chu Kai Kei stole the thunder for Hong Kong when they upset defending champions Egypt 2-1 for a historic win in the final of the World Junior team championships at Herentals, Belgium, yesterday.

It was the first time Hong Kong won the title since the tournament was introduced in Ireland in 1985.

Egypt were overwhelming favourites for a grand double after Raneem El Waleiley, the No 2 seed, upstaged India's topseed Joshna Chinappa in straight games in the individual event a week ago.
