Northern Ireland farmers don't want to be hindered by planners as they try to comply with new environmental regulations.
So the Ulster Farmers' Union has called on the Department of Environment to ensure farmers can get on with improvements, in particular the construction of slurry stores which are necessary if they are to meet new water quality rules.
The union wants to remove the construction of underground slurry tanks from the planning process and to allow them to be increased from 300 sq metres to 550 sq metres.
