Aug. 2--RAYONG -- Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has lent full support to PTT Plc and its subsidiaries in their bid to carry out the third phase of Thailand's integrated petrochemical industry development, hoping to make the group as strong as Petronas, Malaysia's national energy company.

He made the statement yesterday while presiding over the opening ceremony of the country's fifth and largest gas-separation plant in Map Ta Phut, Rayong.

The premier said the government would throw full support behind a massive investment in the third phase of development of the local petrochemical industry over the next ten years.
