Aug. 2--Thailand will likely grow by less than 4 percent this year, with the Bank of Thailand poised to raise interest rates by 0.75 to one percentage point by the end of the year.
Piyasvasti Amranand, chairman of Kasikorn Asset Management, said many research houses had recently slashed their 2005 growth forecasts beyond 4 percent on concerns over high fuel prices, the ballooning current-account deficit, rising interest rates and terrorist fears.
