Aug. 1--The Securities and Exchange Commission, the Department of Special Investigation and 18 other organisations have signed a co-operative agreement to pool information to improve efficiency in the prosecution of financial crimes.
Thirachai Phuvanat-naranubala, the SEC secretary-general, said Thailand had long been criticised for the slow pace of the investigative process, and that the new framework would significantly help speed up enforcement procedures.
Pol Gen Sombat Amornwiwat, the DSI chief, said that under the agreement, his department would be able to share information with other state organisations to help track suspect transactions.
