A number of vendors came together last week to promote new computer standards within the industry, and the IDAPI group was no exception. (See related story, below.)

The Integrated Database Application Programming Interface (IDAPI) was proposed last fall as a way of unifying relational and navigational database programming calls into a single API. The API challenges the Microsoft-led Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) standard for enterprisewide client/server computing.

Borland International Inc., IBM, Novell Inc., and WordPerfect Corp. last week delivered a working draft of the IDAPI 1.00 spec to IDAPI Partners at a conference in Austin, Texas.
