MULTIMODAL forwarder Hellmann Worldwide Logistics is stepping up its presence in the British ocean freight market.
It has started a push to raise the profile of the business both internally within the company and externally to customers through a stronger sales effort.
As part of that drive, which the company claims is already starting to produce around 20% year-on-year growth in its British ocean export consolidation business, Hellmann has promoted Adrian Levett to the newly created post of product manager for ocean freight at Hellmann UK.
His responsibilities will cover all aspects of the British company's ocean freight activities, including carrier negotiation, product development and support of its sales and operational teams nationwide.
'In the past, we have had a very understated position in the British ocean freight business, even though it is the largest and most profitable of our activities,' admitted Mr Levett.
'The facilities, buying power and so on that Hellmann has worldwide has not really been sold to the best of our abilities.
