THE Irish state rail company has decided to close its container freight business, claiming that it accounted for only 10% of its freight business but was losing money to the extent that it was accounting for 70% of the company's losses.
There has been strong criticism from the Irish Exporters' Association, which has called on the Irish Minister for Transport to allow immediate access by private operators to the rail network.
