SUGGESTIONS of a relative upturn in the tanker sale and purchase market continue to come in, although the picture for bulk carriers remains more subdued.
One broker's report points to buying interest remaining 'robust' across most tanker sectors, albeit with the rider that few actual sales are taking place right now.
'We are aware of numerous inspections taking place and we would expect to report further transactions during the next few weeks,' it adds.
Even older vessels were said to be attracting overtures from the Far East. Conversion buyers appear particular keen on picking up 1980s vintage aframaxes and suezmaxes to turn them into floating production, storage and offloading vessels.
