Byline: Deal will boost massive new logistics hub that is only short of customers, writes John McLaughlin

THE Clerici Logistics Group has added significantly to its warehousing portfolio with a new agreement to manage the cold products facility at the Interporto Campana at Nola just outside Naples.

The deal is also a boost forInterporto Campana, which has been seeking an operator for the facility for some months.

Clerici said the sheer size of the 'cold centre' at Nola, together with its warehousing capability forrefrigerated and frozen products, madeit one of Italy's most significant specialised facilities. It comprises 102,000 cu m of space divided into 15 separate cells for refrigerated, frozen and deep frozen products.

Each of the cells is almost 10 m high, up to 50 m deep and from 18 m to 48 m wide, and there is room for around 12,000 europallets.

Around €180m ($235m) has been invested in Interporto Campana, around € 30m of it in an intermodal rail yard adjacent to the 'cold centre' equipped with six electrified tracks connected to the national rail system.
