Japan's K Line has secured major new dry bulk shipping contracts from Arcelor, the Luxembourg-based steel giant.

The two contracts have been won by the group's subsidiary K Line (Europe) and cover about 10m tonnes of cargo in the Atlantic region over the next five years.

This was disclosed after K Line (Europe) took delivery of its latest capesize bulk carrier, Cape Provence, at the Namura shipyard in Japan earlier this month.

Arcelor has already shipped more than 20m tonnes of cargo on K Line vessels over a 10-year period.

K Line said both companies intended to further develop their long-term business in the future and expand into new geographical areas.
